Building better memory through technology
- Banking professional
- Software developer
- Memory training student
I'm Chandan Majumder, a banking professional, software developer, technology enthusiast and long-time student of memory training.
My interests have always sat where human performance, technology, finance and problem-solving meet, and MemoChamp is where they come together.
I work as an Assistant Officer at Dutch-Bangla Bank PLC, in general banking operations, customer service, compliance and day-to-day financial transactions. Alongside that I build websites and software, explore automation and financial technology, and keep studying how human memory works. MemoChamp is my own project: what is published here is my own work and views, not those of my employer.

My story
My journey into memory training
It began around 2015, when I started exploring the techniques used in memory competitions.
Understanding, not just remembering more
I wasn't after a way to simply remember more. I wanted to understand how information can be deliberately encoded, organized and recalled. Training introduced me to visualization, association, linking, structured encoding, spatial memory and rapid recall.
It changed how I thought about memory. Remembering doesn't have to be a passive gift: with the right systems and enough deliberate practice, information gets much easier to encode and retrieve. That idea became one of the foundations of MemoChamp.
Events I practised
In my early training I practised the memory championship events:
- Speed Numbers
- Hour Numbers
- Speed Cards
- Hour Cards
- Binary Numbers
- Random Words
- Abstract Images
- Names and Faces
- Historic Dates
- Spoken Numbers
The idea
Why I created MemoChamp
After years of experimenting, I wanted structured memory training to be easier to get into. MemoChamp is my attempt to combine the methods memory champions use with modern software. MemoChamp is an online World Memory Championship training platform: timed training for all ten championship events in their official formats, a step-by-step guide to each, rankings and live matches. The name is Memory + Champion: train like a memory champion.
- Method of Loci
- Major System
- PAO
- Linking Method
- Peg Systems
- Chunking
- Visualization
- Active Recall
- Spaced Repetition
Learn the technique. Practise it. Measure your performance. Improve.
Over time I'd like MemoChamp to become a complete place for anyone interested in memory improvement, memory sport, learning and cognitive training, whether you are preparing for a competition, trying to remember names and numbers, studying a new subject, or just curious.

What MemoChamp looks like
Every event runs on the full championship sheet with its real clock, and every result lands on the rankings.

Background
Beyond memory training
Banking
Banking work depends on accuracy, responsibility, compliance and attention to detail. My day-to-day includes new account opening, KYC and AML-related operations, cheque and ATM card processing, RTGS and fund transfers, cheque clearing and customer support. It has given me practical experience of financial processes, operational risk and working to strict procedures, and sharpened my interest in FinTech, automation and data.
Software
I've spent years building with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL and WordPress, developing and customizing websites for clients with an eye on performance, responsive design, usability and SEO. I also work with Python, automation and data analysis, and have explored algorithmic trading systems with MQL5 and MetaTrader. I like building software, not just using it, especially where it turns a complicated process into something simpler, faster and measurable.
Economics and finance
My academic background is in economics, which led me towards finance, quantitative thinking, programming, data, automation and artificial intelligence. Modern financial systems depend more and more on software and data, which is why I enjoy projects that sit between finance and technology.
Community
Volunteering with Prothom Alo Bondhushava gave me experience in leadership, public speaking, event management and teamwork. It taught me that technical knowledge is only part of building something useful: communication and working well with people matter just as much.

The thread
Why these interests belong together
They connect through one question: how can information be understood, organized, processed and used more effectively?
- Economics
- Finance
- Programming
- Data
- Automation
- AI
Banking processes financial information accurately.
Economics studies systems and incentives.
Programming turns logic into systems.
Data analysis pulls useful signals out of data.
Memory training encodes information so it can be retrieved efficiently.
MemoChamp brings many of these interests together in one project.
My approach is simple: curiosity, deliberate practice, experimentation and measurement. I don't want to learn a technique and stop. I want to understand how it works, test it, build something with it, measure the result and improve the system. That mindset runs from my memory training through software and finance to this site.
Standards
How the guides are written
A guide should answer the question in its title, give worked examples you can copy, and say plainly where a method has limits. These are the rules I hold the site to.
No invented evidence
No made-up personal stories, benchmark scores or study results. Where a guide leans on research, it names the study so you can look it up.
Dated pages
Each guide shows when it was last updated, and I revise a page when I find it is wrong or out of date.
Honest about claims
Memory techniques make specific kinds of recall easier. They don't make anyone “photographic” or protect against disease, and the guides say so.
Records from published sources
World-record figures follow Guinness World Records and the championship's published rules.
Independence
MemoChamp is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the World Memory Sports Council or any competition organizer. Training formats follow the rules those bodies publish.
How the site is paid for
The drills, guides and tools are free. The site may in future show advertising on reading pages and offer an optional paid plan. If so, ads will be marked as such and kept out of the timed drills, and this page and the privacy policy will be updated first.
